Overall footprint
You need to decide how much floor space each unit requires. The Modern Shade 10x10 Louvered Pergola with USB covers a 10 by 10 foot area. Its width and length are both 120 inches. The Modern Shade 10'x12' Louvered Pergola with USB is larger. It measures 120 inches wide by 143 inches long. This gives you a 10 by 12 foot covered area. If you have a smaller patio or deck, the 10 by 10 model fits tighter spaces. If you want more room for dining or lounging sets, the 10 by 12 model provides extra square footage. Both share the same 120-inch width.
Included accessories
Both pergolas come with built-in electrical outlets and USB ports for charging devices. However, the Modern Shade 10'x12' Louvered Pergola with USB includes additional fabric accessories. It comes with removable dual-access zippered curtains and privacy nets. These items attach to a smooth-gliding double-track canopy system. The Modern Shade 10x10 Louvered Pergola with USB does not list any curtains or nets in its included features. You get only the structure and the charging strip. If you want immediate privacy and wind protection from fabrics, the larger model includes them. You would need to source those separately for the smaller unit.
Privacy and wind protection
The Modern Shade 10'x12' Louvered Pergola with USB offers enhanced privacy features. It includes flame-retardant and colorfast yarn-dyed fabric curtains. Adjustable straps anchor these fabrics against strong winds. This dual-layer system helps maximize comfort and seclusion. The Modern Shade 10x10 Louvered Pergola with USB lacks these specific fabric components in its data. It relies solely on the adjustable louvers for shade and airflow control. While both have the same 83 mph wind resistance for the structure, the 10 by 12 model provides physical barriers against prying eyes and gusts. You get more comprehensive environmental control with the included nets and curtains.
Structural weight
The build mass differs between the two models. The Modern Shade 10x10 Louvered Pergola with USB weighs 369 pounds. The Modern Shade 10'x12' Louvered Pergola with USB weighs 412 pounds. The larger model is heavier due to its extended length and the inclusion of the curtain and net hardware. This extra weight may require more robust anchoring or a stronger deck surface. Both units use expansion bolts for secure installation on hard surfaces. You should verify your surface can support the 412-pound load if you choose the larger option. The difference is 43 pounds of additional material.
Height specifications
Both pergolas share the same standard height specification. The Modern Shade 10x10 Louvered Pergola with USB stands at 86.7 inches tall. The Modern Shade 10'x12' Louvered Pergola with USB also stands at 86.7 inches tall. Variations for both models may offer a height of 87 inches. Since the vertical clearance is identical, you do not need to worry about roof height differences affecting your space. Both will fit under standard eaves or overhangs similarly. You can choose based on floor area rather than vertical clearance. The height remains constant across these two specific configurations.
Which Modern Shade Pergola fits your space
You need maximum shade coverage
Choose the 10'x12' model if you require a larger footprint. It measures 143 inches in length and 120 inches in width. This extra 20 inches of length provides more square footage for dining sets or lounge areas. Both units offer identical 83 mph wind resistance and adjustable louvers, but the larger frame covers more ground.
You want privacy and wind protection
