Frame and Roof Comparison
Frame Material
Aoxun uses a powder-coated steel frame for its 10x12 lean-to gazebo. Steel is known for its high tensile strength and rigidity, which helps the structure remain stable against daily wind loads. The corrosion-resistant coating protects against rust. Lausaint HOME constructs its 10x13 retractable pergola with premium aluminum. Aluminum is naturally rust-resistant and significantly lighter than steel. This makes the Lausaint HOME unit easier to handle during installation and reduces the overall load on your mounting surface. If you prioritize lightweight durability and corrosion resistance, aluminum has an advantage. If you prefer the traditional heft and stiffness of steel, Aoxun delivers that robust feel.
Roof Style
The Aoxun model features a fixed sloped roof design. This slope efficiently directs rainwater away from your patio area, preventing pooling on the fabric. You can push the canopy from underneath to clear heavy water accumulation during storms. Lausaint HOME offers a retractable canopy system. This allows you to glide the shade cover open or closed, giving you control over sunlight and ventilation. You can enjoy full sun or complete shade as needed. However, Lausaint HOME recommends retracting the canopy during heavy rain or strong winds to protect the mechanism and fabric. Aoxun suggests detaching the canopy in extreme storms. The choice depends on whether you want permanent coverage or adjustable light control.
Canopy Weight
Fabric weight indicates density and durability. Aoxun uses a 160g PA-coated polyester fabric for its lean-to awning. This material provides UPF50+ UV protection and is water-repellent. It dries quickly after light rain. Lausaint HOME utilizes a thicker 180g/m² canopy material. This higher gram weight suggests a denser weave that blocks intense sunlight more effectively while maintaining airflow. The thicker fabric may offer greater resistance to tearing and long-term wear from sun exposure. For buyers who want maximum sun blocking and a heavier, more substantial feel to the shade cloth, Lausaint HOME’s 180g/m² option provides a clear step up in material density compared to Aoxun’s 160g offering.
Size and Coverage
Size matters for patio coverage. Aoxun offers a 10x12 foot structure, with dimensions listed as 120 inches in length and 70.9 inches in width. This creates a rectangular shade area suitable for smaller decks or narrow balconies. Lausaint HOME provides a larger 10x13 foot footprint, measuring 157 inches in length and 118 inches in width. This extra length and width provide significantly more shaded floor space. The Lausaint HOME unit is better suited for larger patios or decks where you need to cover more furniture or seating areas. If your outdoor space is limited, Aoxun’s smaller footprint might fit better. For maximum coverage, Lausaint HOME wins.
Height Options
Clearance height affects comfort and compatibility with your structure. Aoxun lists multiple height variations in its options, including 100 inches, 94.5 inches, 80 inches, and 62 inches. The specific model reviewed has a height of 94.5 inches. This variety allows you to choose a height that fits your wall mounting point or desired headroom. Lausaint HOME lists a single height of 88 inches for its 10x13 model. While 88 inches is standard for many pergolas, it offers less flexibility if you need taller clearance. Aoxun provides more options to customize the vertical space, making it more adaptable to different mounting scenarios and user preferences.
Choose the right pergola for you
You want adjustable shade and airflow
The Lausaint HOME pergola features a retractable canopy that lets you switch between sun and shade. Its 180g/m² fabric blocks UV rays while maintaining breathability. The aluminum frame resists rust and corrosion. You can retract the cover during heavy rain to protect the material, offering flexibility for changing weather conditions.
You prefer a fixed, sloped design
The Aoxun gazebo has a sloped roof that directs water away efficiently. Its powder-coated steel frame provides high rigidity and stability. The 160g PA-coated polyester fabric offers UPF50+ protection. This wall-mounted structure maximizes patio space without a retractable mechanism, making it a simple, durable choice for consistent shade coverage.
You need maximum coverage area
The Lausaint HOME model offers a larger footprint at 10x13 feet. Its aluminum structure supports this expanded size while resisting corrosion. The retractable canopy allows you to adjust the shaded area as needed. This larger dimension provides more space for outdoor furniture and seating compared to smaller fixed options.
You want a lightweight steel option
The Aoxun unit uses a steel frame which is generally lighter than heavy-duty aluminum alternatives. It includes elastic bungee loops to keep the canopy tight. The sloped design prevents water pooling. This setup is ideal if you prioritize a straightforward installation with a robust, non-retractable structure that requires minimal moving parts.
